And Claude Von Stroke’s cult hit, ‘Who’s Afraid Of Detroit’ did just that for Greg Funk, inspiring him to become a DJ, producer, mixing engineer and dedicate his life to dance music. Born Grigoriy Matrenin 29 years ago, Greg made his name in the UAE where he lived for 7 years, gaining residencies at Sanctuary, Pukka Up, Aurora as well as playing international dates in Hong Kong, Goa, Budapest, Singapore and Ibiza. Musically, he lists influential labels like Dirtybird, Get Physical and Poker Flat as industry benchmarks, while his sets span everything from blissful house, jazz-flecked nu-disco and more pumping, upbeat house and tech-house. As he says, ‘music must have soul.’ He’s well known as a producer, with releases on ultra cool labels like Prison Entertainment, Shibiza Recordings and impressively, Pacha Recordings. The best is yet to come for this dedicated DJ and producer, as in collaboration with his cousin, they’ve created the ThC Brothers , with their debut album set to drop summer of 2016. With Greg on production duties and his cousin Serious Guy, they blend deep, tech and electronic influences on their long-player, ‘104.’ supported by Dj Mag magazine Russia ‘Music must be interesting,’ he explains, ‘there’s so much space to experiment in music.’And with a dream of making music as touching as Claude Von Stroke’s seminal track, this ambitious DJ and producer is looking to inspire the next generation of dancefloor heroes. 2017 late Greg start working on new project called ' Petra Ichor ' with female producer Yoko current location China.
